8 die in Himachal bus plunge

Shimla : Eight people were killed and 17 injured when a bus swerved off a mountain road and rolled down a hill in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district Friday , police said.

 “Eight people have been killed in the accident ,” Sirmaur police chief Sumedha Diwedi said by phone .

 Seventeen people have been injured and there are fears the toll could rise.

 The private bus was on its way from Punardhar to Solan town , the accident took place in Sangrah area around 125 km from Shimla. Earlier this week four people were killed in a road accident in Sirmaur

 Sirmaur is one of the remotest and most poor district of the hill state .
