24 power hydro power projects on Ravi

imageShimla :So far 24 hydro power projects have been constructed on the Ravi river in Himachal Pradesh. They have a joint installed capacity of 1411 MW.

This was stated in a written reply by the state’s power minister Sujan Singh Pathania on the opening day of the monsoon session here Wednesday.

These projects are built and run by the state and central governments and also by private parties.

These projects have generated 16,222 million units of energy in the last three years.

The minister said the independent power producers(IPPs) involved in the operation of these projects have contributed Rs 8.82 crore funds for development activities in Himachal Pradesh.

Some of he notable projects on the Ravi and its tributaries are Lanco’s 70 MW Budhil project, NHPC’s 198 MW Bairasuil, 540 MW Chamera-1 and 300 MW Chamera-11.
