11 dead in Himachal road crash

Shimla : Eleven people were killed and eighteen injured when an overcrowded multi-utility vehicle fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district Saturday , police said .

The accident took place in the remote and mountainous Shillai region of the district . All the dead and injured were locals .

The injured have been shifted to Chandigarh’s PGI hospital. Sirmaur has seen a spate of fatal road accidents in recent times .

Locals told Sun Post that the overcrowded and overspeeding vehicle suddenly skidded off the road and rolled down the steep hill side .
